Assessments for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020

Assessments for the 2018-2019 seasons will be held  in August. Assessments are mandatory for all players born 2004-2010 who will be playing on U10-U15 teams during upcoming fall and/or spring seasons. We have moved assessments from the normal late May/June date in order to increase participation by avoiding conflicts with all of the end-of-year school and activity commitments as well as lacrosse practices that go through the first weekend in June. We realize these new dates may conflict with summer plans. However, with no perfect time to hold the assessments within the CSA parameters, the club felt this was a better choice.  Assessments are necessary to determine player placements for Premier and Devo teams for each age group and gender. Assessments are NOT tryouts. All players will be placed on a team.

Soccer Age Groups Are Determined By Birth Years. These are dictated and Determined by Us Soccer and CSA.

AUSC Team Options and Colorado Soccer

Aspen United Soccer Club teams currently play in two different leagues offered through Colorado Soccer Association (CSA). We also offer a U10 Academy program which is recreational and does not offer games against teams outside the club. All academy games are 'in house. Typically, all teams playing both leagues offered by CSA play eight games. All teams in both leagues are also expected to play in at least one tournament during the season. Some teams play in two tournaments. There is an additional cost associated with playing in tournaments.

U10 Academy

AUSC now offers a recreation program in the Fall and Spring for U10's.  At the U10 Recreation level, the boys and the girls will play separately. There will be two days of practice per week and one day of games that are also all 'in-house.' Additionally, the U10 teams will play 2-3 jamboree tournaments in the Roaring Fork Valley. For more advanced U10 level players, there will

Mountain Region League (MRL)

The majority of our teams compete in the MRL. MRL consists of teams located in the Roaring Fork Valley and the Western Slope. All U10 and U12 teams play against teams within the Roaring Fork Valley and do not generally travel farther than Rifle. For U15 and U19 teams, travel can included trips to locations such as Telluride and Steamboat.

MRL provides competition in two different levels of play for each age group. If we have enough players for two teams in an age group, we will offer a Premier team and a Developmental team. If there is only one team in an age group, the Director of Coaching will determine the most appropriate division for the team based on the level of play of the players on the team.

Premier Division: This introductory level of competitive play is designed for those who want to develop their skills though better competition. Players are selected based on ability and skill level. Teams who participate in this division require more commitment with regard to traveling for games, a more demanding practice schedule, tournament schedules and expenses. This division will have promotion and relegation between fall and spring. Teams will be selected through application process ** Certified Referees Only

Developmental Division: This division is designed for players who enjoy the sport for the social aspect of the game while developing their skills through practice and games. Teams are formed through assignment of all interested participants to a team. Travel will be required. Teams are encouraged to participate in tournaments.

In the fall season, Aspen United usually fields one team per division. In the spring season, AUSC usually only fields one team per division.

Advanced State League

CSA Competitive leagues are composed of advanced teams participating at higher levels of competition. Within the Advanced League, there are three leagues with varying levels of competition: Colorado Champions League, Centennial League, and the Secondary League.

The Colorado Champions League is an application-based league, the Advanced League Operations Committee determines placement.

The Centennial League is comprised of teams that are placed by their clubs' recommendation.

The Secondary League is a league for 8th graders who lose their teammates to the high school season, due to their age based on the new US Soccer birth year mandates.

U8-U10 Academy

During the spring season, Aspen United offers an in-house recreation style program for U8's and U10's who are just developing players. U10's players with experience should play with U10 travel team. The Academy program meets three days per mid week. Two one hour sessions per week are practices and the remaining one hour session provides game opportunities against players in the academy program. Games are not played against other clubs.

Winter 2018 -- Futsal

Winter Futsal will begin on Monday, January 14 and run through Friday, March 8. Cost for the program is $100 for 8 sessions. Each session will be run by our Director of Coaching, Jamie Shock, and our Technical Director, Fode Syllas. All sessions will take place at the Snowmass Village Rec. Center gymnasium.

New for Fall 2018 - Toddler and Kindergarten Training

AUSC will now offer Toddler and Kindergarten soccer training for 3-5 year olds. The program will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5 PM at the Snowmass Village Rec Center field starting Monday, October 1 and will run for 5 weeks ending on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The gym at the Rec Center will be available for inclement or cold weather days. If there are enough children to run two sessions, we will also offer a second session from 3-5 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays. The maximum for each team is 10 players. The cost for the program is $150.00. All players will also need to bring a size 3 soccer ball to each practice.

The program will be run by coach, Ali Rayburn. Ali holds a USSF National B License and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Ali has an extensive soccer background which includes coaching at the college level, earning All-Conference and All-American honors while playing in college, playing on a US Youth Soccer National Tournament Championship team and having been named a US Youth Soccer National Boot Winner for her U18 club team. Ali has also coached and trained some elite level club teams.
