Apen United Grievance and Communication Policy

Aspen United Soccer Club Grievance & Communication Policy

Aspen United Soccer club encourages direct communication among coaches, players and parents.  Players are encouraged to address their concerns directly with their coach.  However, there is a process that should be followed for resolving issues.  The following Parent/Coach 24-Hour Rule applies to all parents involved in Aspen United Soccer:

  • Parents may not approach coaches to voice complaints or displeasure with coaching actions or decisions either during or immediately following any game or practice.  A period of 24 hours should pass after the game or practice in question.
  • The first step is for the parent to arrange a meeting to speak directly with the team’s coach.  This should be done when the coach is not coaching and when there are not other players or parents around.
  • If the issue is not resolved, the parent may contact the Director of Coaching to arrange a meeting.  The parent should document, in writing, the steps taken so far and recommend a solution.  This may be done by email.  At that meeting, all relevant questions and concerns will be addressed by the Director of Coaching in an effort to resolve the issue for the benefit of all involved.  The Director of Coaching will address the matter within 72 hours of written notification.
  • If issue remains unresolved, the parent may contact one of the members of the Board of Directors responsible for coach/parent relations (see website under Board Members), not other board members. The parent should document, in writing, the steps taken so far to resolve the situation. This may be done by email.  The board member will review the information, speak with and/or meet with the appropriate parties to resolve the situation.
  • Should an acceptable solution not be achieved, the parent should request that the issue be brought before the Board of Directors at the next regularly scheduled meeting.  At discretion of the Board President, an emergency meeting or conference call may be scheduled for a final answer on the issue.

Playing Time Policy

Aspen United Soccer Club teams play in competitive soccer, whether they are in the green division or in the white division.  Playing time is commensurate with commitment, practice performance and participation and game performance.  No player is guaranteed playing time.

  • A player may get less playing time depending on performance, attitude and effort.  If a player works hard, comes to every practice, he or she may get more playing time but this is left to the discretion of the coach.
  • If a player has not attended any practices in the week preceding a game, regardless of the reason, the player is not guaranteed playing time. The player will participate at the coach’s discretion.
  • Poor practice or game performance, attitude or effort may result in reduced playing time.
  • Missing practices or games may result in reduced playing time.
