Parent Code of Conduct

  • Support your child’s and other players’ desire to participate in and play the sport of soccer and help make the game fun for them.
  • Read and help your child understand and abide by the Player Code of Conduct.
  • Be responsible for helping your child arrive on time to practices and games.
  • Maintain a good relationship of communication with your child’s coach and team manager(s).
  • Be responsible for checking the club hotline for field updates and for paying attention to club email updates.
  • Recognize, acknowledge and support the contribution and commitment of our volunteers, staff and coaches.
  • Be a positive role model for players, coaches, officials, other parents and spectators while attending practices and games.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, and applaud all players’ and coaches’ efforts, both in winning and losing, and enforce the positive and fun aspects of the game. Remember that children learn best by example.
  • Study and understand the rules of soccer; support the officials and coaches both on and off the field. Understand that the Laws of the Game often are treated more like suggestions than hard-and-fast rules, and that the same foul is often called differently, depending where on the pitch it takes place.  A slight push in the back or a handball may be whistled at midfield, but the same foul in the penalty area rarely results in a penalty kick.
  • Never physically or verbally abuse or criticize any player, coach, official, arena personnel or spectator after a game or practice.  Understand that referees may not call fouls in the interest of maintaining the flow of the game if the team that committed the foul did not gain an advantage or it the team who was fouled retains an advantage.  Never dispute a referee call.
  • Prolonged remarks or abusive disagreement with referees’ calls by spectators, coaches or players may result in a cardable offense charged against the team’s coach or manager.  The nature of the offense (caution or ejection) is determined at the complete discretion of the referee.
  • All spectators must be on the opposite side of the field from the teams.  No one is permitted to stand behind the goal line during the match.
  • Do not address remarks to opposing players, coaches, spectators or referees except when remarks convey genuine friendship and respect or are in response to questions by the referee.
  • Displays of temper will not be tolerated.  Anger poisons the atmosphere on the playing field.  Never use foul language or obscene gestures.
  • Keep winning and losing in proper perspective.  It’s only a game.

Persons who cannot conduct themselves in the above manner are not welcome at soccer matches or practices.  Individuals who persist in violating these standards may be asked to leave the playing area and play may be suspended until they do so.
